Hutson (2024) selected the dissertation that used a quantitative research approach to investigate the behavioral intention to use multifactor authentication (MFA) and examined it using the UTAUT2 model. The research had gathered structured survey data of social media users in the US, with the constructs being performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation, price value, and habit. The data obtained consisted mostly of interval and ordinal types and were obtained using Likert-scale items in the Internet questionnaire. 

The researcher employed the use of statistical methods to examine the data, which are suitable in predictive correlational designs, to test the hypotheses about the associations between the UTAUT2 constructs and the behavioral intentions that users have concerning the adoption of MFA. The initial stages of analyzing the data included descriptive statistics to summarize the data and to analyze the patterns in the responses of the participants, and then inferential statistics were used to test whether the relationships were significant as expected.

To test the hypothesis, Hutson applied the correlation and regression analyses to establish the level and direction of relationships between the independent constructs and behavioral intention. The data handling, testing assumptions, and conducting multivariate analyses were probably done using tools like SPSS or other statistical software. The G+Power analysis was to be used to guarantee the sample size used was sufficient so as to obtain the necessary level of statistical significance and boost the validity of the study. 

One of the interesting results of the study was that aspects like effort expectancy and hedonic motivation greatly contributed to the intention to use MFA, which indicated that convenience and perceived enjoyment are important determinants in cybersecurity practices. These insights have some practical implications for organizations that aim to increase the rates of MFA adoption through a focus on easy and interactive security processes.
