The most important thing that I learned in the content of this week is the understanding of the clinical approach to the congenital heart defects, that is, the ventricular septal defects. I was instructed to conceptually connect the underlying embryological etiology, resultant pathophysiology of left-to-right shunting, and the corresponding relative diagnostic and management interventions. The case study corroborated the direct contribution of underlying knowledge in patient assessment, family education, and treatment planning.
