1. Does your company have a similar plan to the one described in the contingency planning guide of federal information systems? What parts are included in the plan?

Microsoft believes in a contingency planning model that fulfils the requirements of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) contingency planning guide on federal information systems. To achieve operational resiliency, the business continuity and disaster recovery (BCDR) has certain key components (IBM, 2023). To start with, the firm has a complete business impact analysis that identifies the systems that are important to the company and prioritizes the recovery plans according to the consequential events. Examples of preventive controls are high-level cybersecurity controls, redundancy of data centers, and automatic backup.

The plan outlines particular backup measures to restore data, networks, and applications that are affected due to a disruption. Conducting tests, training, and simulation exercises with personnel would assist in making people more prepared to respond in the face of an incident. Also, Microsoft has a constant plan maintenance cycle to ensure that the strategy is up to date on the latest threats and technological shifts (Microsoft, 2023).
