The Podcast
User-generated content refers to material created and shared online by ordinary people who are not paid by corporations to produce it (Levesque, J., 2021). For instance, social media users can create and share digital audio files, known as podcasts, which can be downloaded on computers and mobile devices (Salmon, 2008). These podcasts are available on platforms such as ITunes and Spotify, where users can choose which one to listen to and start playing.
COMM 1006 Week 2 Podcast
In my small town of 40,000 people, homelessness is an issue that needs to be addressed. I plan to utilize the internet and social media platforms to spread awareness about available resources for homeless individuals. By using user-generated content, I hope to involve the community in the effort to provide assistance. Social media platforms are powerful tools for raising awareness and can reach a large audience with just one post. With this approach, people can easily access information about local soup kitchens, community events, transportation options, and places to seek help or self-education. Let’s have conversations both online and in-person about homelessness and brainstorm ideas to address the issue.

With the power of the internet, information can be easily shared and quickly go viral. It doesn’t have to be a big financial or time commitment to make a difference – even a simple inspirational message or helpful piece of information shared can make an impact. User-generated content can change social norms and attitudes toward homelessness, leading to a shift in community perspectives and a greater desire to help those in need (Levesque, J., 2021).

Indeed, user-generated content has the potential to drive social change by raising public awareness and changing attitudes toward important social issues like homelessness. By sharing information and personal stories through social media platforms and other online channels, individuals can quickly and effectively spread the word about the realities of homelessness and challenge the stereotypes and misconceptions that may prevent people from taking action. This can help shift the public’s perspective and inspire people to get involved and make a difference. As a result, user-generated content can be a powerful tool for driving positive social change and creating a more compassionate and supportive community for all. In addition to podcasts, user-generated content can also have a significant impact on the community.

By sharing information on social media platforms and other online channels, we can educate the public on the realities of homelessness and dispel stereotypes and false beliefs about homeless individuals. User-generated content can also inspire people to take action and get involved in supporting those experiencing homelessness. Overall, it is important to remember that we all have a role to play in creating positive social change in our communities. By using the resources available to us, such as podcasts and social media platforms, we can work together to help those in need and build a more compassionate and supportive society.
